LexisNexis is the classic example of a company that takes advantage and uses bait and switch tactics. I was lead to believe when I signed up in 2015 that it was a three year contract.

When I realized late in 2015 that I was not using LexisNexis as in reality, the type of legal work I do does not end up with cases in trial and legal research needed, I contacted them to see about early termination. That is when, to my horror, I learned that they had me locked into a seven year contract. During 2015, a LexisNexis rep would contact me, and make suggestions about adding something, or switching from a particular search type to another. They would talk me into their "suggestions." What they did not tell me is that every time you make a switch, such as dropping appellate case research and substituting legal journal research - they add a year to the contract!!!!

As a busy attorney, I rely upon people being honest and upfront when talking to me on the phone. The response I have gotten from them was "we emailed you the revised contract and you signed it." Busy attorney, prints out the revised contract with the change in subscription, with the tiny fine print, signs it and faxes it back. If the rep has said over the telephone (which he/she should have) that any changes would add a year to the contract, I would not have made any changes. Mind you - they called me to suggest changes based upon certain usage.

I have been paying $178.86 per month for something I do not use since late 2015 and cannot get out of it until February of 2021, unless they can find some other way to scam me to extend it longer. I am a low bono attorney helping people with low income and I do not charge much for my services. I do not use LexisNexis at all, and to date they have grabbed $8444 off the back of a poor attorney helping members of the community in need of legal services who are of moderate means. And I have another full year to go.

Stay away from LexisNexis. Greedy company.

I am experiencing same thing. Avoid this company like the plague.

I took over at CFO and inherited this subscription. I called 30 days before the expiration to tell them I was not renewing and they said it wasn't enough notice. Still getting bills. How can a company like this still operate in this day and age with so much information available about how they treat their customers?

It is only a matter of time before they are done.

They may be winning short term but it won't be long term. Sad part is I think they have a decent product but they are such scammers it will be hard for people to see past that at some point here.

Going through this right now. What was the outcome?
