So you think a so-called reputable "background investigation" company would do a good job on running a background check on you (that was requested by a potential employer) *** no...this company not only confused me twice with someone else who simply shares the same name and coincidentaly, the same birthdate. This individual has a record for a felony drug conviction in another state!

So as I sit and wait a week, and wonder why I havent heard anything from this company that I applied to, I finally get in contact with the hiring manager and I simply inquire what the status of my application is and I was told "Our HR department has notified me that you aren't hirable!". So of course Im curious as to why, he couldnt disclose any information bevause he said I had to contact the HR dept. After numerous phone calls, they finally give me the name of the company that did the background check, Lexis-Nexis.

I then contact them and question them as to how they came up with this false information about me! They simply stated that if the information was wrong, they will open up an investigation to try and clear things up for me. They told me I needed to fax them a copy of my drivers license, which I did, but they never told me the fax wasnt cleared until I called them again 3 days later to ask what the status of my investigation was. I asked them why didnt anyone contact me to resend my drivers license!?!? They had no answer, so I proceeded to email them a full color copy of my license!

Long story short, after 12 days they finally call me, tell me my investigation was cleared and that they would notify all/any companies that ran a check on me for the last 2 years. Great, right?

I then call the company I originally applied for and asked them if they had received a revised version of my background investigation report and they said no! I explained to them that I had already received my copy! They said well can you please somehow fax us the revised version!?!? I said so Lexis-Nexis sent you the first copy with the wrong information but they havent sent you the revised version with the right information!?!?

Anywayyyyyyyyy...so I go to Staples and fax them 18 pages of my report (costing me $20).

I truly believe a company like this should do a better job at what they are in business to do! I believe they should be held reponsible somehow for false misrepresentation! How can you accuse someone of having a felony just because your name and birthdate matches theirs? What ever happend to running a social security number or a drivers license number!?!?

Word to the wise, if you're a potential employer and you're looking to run a background check on someone, use a different company if you want more accurate information! In the interum, I got hired by another company which obviously didnt use this company, so my background check was correct with whomever they used!

Lexis-Nexis gets a *** for their poor service!

This whole company is a joke. I can't believe that State Farm Ins Co does business with them, and they are in New newzealand.

How did you contact them directly and get a real life person. THey have an insurance claim made for me and I never made one....so they have me mixed up with somebody else apparently.

I was 4 weeks in pop warner season, 3 days before our first game amd told that lexisnexus reported a hit on my background. I was pulled off the field till it could be cleared.

I have worked with At Risk Youth for 20 years and passed several state and federal background checks.

I've never had more then a traffic ticket in my life. This Company has increased me and poetintaily hurt my reputaion.

Do not use this company for background checks. They give out false information. Also the CEO Mile Walsh sleeps around on his wife!

Lexis Nexis is one of the largest file sharing engines on planet earth. My advice would be to sue sue sue.

Many states require you to have a law enforcement license to conduct background checks.

Based on the information you have stated, it looks like the employer is responsible for the use of your information, and that they have stolen your identity. I would contact your local police department, report this as identity theft by a corporation, and request a court order obtaining the information that was provided to the prospective employer. I would then request a court order to stop or prohibit Lexis Nexis from using your identity.

Frankly, because it obstructed you from being employed, I would try to get a court to charge the operators of Lexis Nexis with identity theft. Corporations are not immune.

Practically hired for a job, pending a background check from these people, and a drug test.I got a call from HR,and said that I did not pass the background check.I was sent the results by both companies, and when I read it,I was pissed.I have no felony convictions, and had no arrest record for over 14 years.I only had a couple light misdemeanors.apparently most jobs want background checks,so thanks for nothing lexisnexis.I hope whoever constructed this check, comes back on their own children,or family. And make it difficult for them to get a job,so they can provide for their families.whoever should profit from this, should burn in ***.

I have a very common name. In fact I personally know three other people with my same first and last name, who live near me.

Yet, LexisNexis reported on me as a 32 year old, black man in Indiana, who is a sex offender. I am a 42 year old white man living in Virginia, who is not any type of offender. Been out of work for almost 9 months, have been on dozens of interviews, have perfect references but never get called back.

Found out about the background check when I filled out a form to help coach my son's little league team. Attorney has been contacted!

My daughter was just hired at target. Her first job.

We received a letter this Saturday stating that her SS# is associated with someone else. My daughter just turned 18 so I called and she gave them permission to speak with me. After speaking with several illiterate reps., I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. Informed them we misplaced her SS card, we went to the local SS admin.

office and was given a letter from them that states no one else is associated with this number and only one card has ever been issued which was the same year she was born. Supervisor at LexisNexis says the letter is acceptable, but can't tell us when the so-called investigation will be completed. Will she lose her first job because of THEIR erro? If so, they better get prepared, as well as Target to be sued.

What company requests a copy of your social security card. They seem ver shady and deceitful!

Lexisnexis is the worst company that I ever seen on doing background checks, they are suppose to be a reputable company , yeah right they did a background check on me and put a felony charge on me, that wasn't even mine. This person had the same name and and birthdate as me but different social security number and lived in another state.

If they want to stay in business they better start doing a better search from there databases and start using the old way , pick up the dam phone and call the county where you got the false information !! And stop making people wait 30 days to clear up your incurrent mistakes!!!!!!!

My Mortgage License is being held up by the State of Wyoming because LexisNexis has reported an OUTSTANDING IRS Tax Lien from 2006!! First of all, I have NEVER had a tax lien....AND I have in the past 12 YEARS filed and RECEIVED refunds!!! I have been dealing with this issue for 3 months at this point and Iโ€™m running out of patience and money just trying to start my new job!!

I have been waiting for over a month for lexisnexis to complete my background check. I mean *** how long does it take to do a bg check.

I have no felonies and really old misdemeanors.

I would also like to sue for lost wages. I could have done made a two paychecks by now but at this rate I wont be working till next year.

I had a fake felony charge appear on my background check for a large retail chain through this company. It is somebody with the same first and last name as me.

I too am awaiting approval so I can begin this job.

I found a group of people who successfully won a case against them and were rewarded money for the amount of time they were out of work waiting for the false information to be cleared. I believe I will be seeking out an attorney.
